Reduce their funding so severely that traditional policing becomes impossible - The Motte, the mild, defensible version: Democrats say “We just want to reallocate some money to mental health services, social workers, and community programs so the police don’t have to handle everything.” Here’s how it works, When critics attack the radical version saying something like “You want to abolish the police and leave cities less safe”, the defenders immediately switch to the mild version “No one is saying abolish the police, we just want better resources for communities” But in reality, they plan us to abolish the police The Left uses this tactic ALL THE TIME

Elon Musk built SpaceX into a ~$2 trillion company WITHOUT an aerospace background. On the Cheeky Pint podcast, he shared 8 timeless principles on how he achieved this: 1) Relentlessly attack the limiting factor

Elon says he only ever works on one thing: the bottleneck. Whatever is slowing the company down most, that gets his full attention. Everything else waits. If a part of the business is running well, he leaves it alone. His whole job is finding the constraint and killing it.

2) Take acute pain now to avoid chronic pain forever Most people will suffer any amount of slow, chronic pain to dodge one sharp, acute one. Elon does the opposite. He takes the hard, painful decision early, so the company doesn't bleed slowly for years. Rip the bandaid.

3) Hire for the traits you can't teach Most of the people who built SpaceX had never worked in aerospace. Elon says you can't change core traits: talent, drive, trustworthiness, heart. But you can always add domain knowledge on top. So hire for the first, teach the second.

4) Believe the conversation, not the resume A resume can look incredible and mean nothing. Elon's rule: if the conversation isn't a “wow” after 20 minutes, trust that over the paper. He looks for a few concrete examples of exceptional ability, however off the wall.

5) Set deadlines you'll miss half the time Elon aims for the most aggressive deadline that's still hittable at 50% odds. He knows it'll be late half the time. That's the point. Schedules expand like gas to fill the time you give them, so you give them less.

6) Force the hard call yourself when the team won't SpaceX was building Starship from carbon fiber. Progress was painfully slow. Elon pushed the team to switch to steel, a riskier path they resisted. It made the rocket cheaper and lighter. “It was dumb not to do steel.”

7) Run weekly reviews with no advance prep Elon does deep engineering reviews weekly, sometimes twice. He uses skip-level meetings and goes around the room so nobody can rehearse and “glaze” him. He plots each person's progress in his head to see if they're converging.

8) Urgency comes from the top Elon doesn't expect a company to move fast if he doesn't. “I have a maniacal sense of urgency, so that projects through the rest of the company.” Set an aggressive pace yourself, and it spreads. Slow leader, slow company.
